The Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) is all set to transform Bodhjanganagar into a major industrial hub in the entire North East, according to TIDC chairman Mr Pabitrakar, MLA. “We already have 19 industrial units here and seven more are in the pipeline” , he told TRIPURATODAY.com in an exclusive interview. He mentioned how 3,500 youths were directly employed in the different industrial units with 5,000 more persons being indirectly being benefitted. According to Mr Kar the total investments so far has crossed the 500 crore mark and this will near the 1,000 crore mark in the days to come.
Toiling hard for the past decade and a half to put Tripura in the industrial map of the country he stated the immediate needs that should be fulfilled. Firstly, Railways should provide a railhead connection with Bodhjangnagar in the days to come. As an alternative we have also proposed to provide land at Tulakona adjacent to the existing rail line for setting up storage facilities. But so far there is no response from railways, he lamented. Besides, there is a longstanding demand that necessary infrastructure facilities should be in place at Agartala airport to store perishable goods like fruits and vegetables.
Reagrding the need of land for setting up industries he said in Bodhjangnagar the 535 acre existing land has got exhausted and we have asked the state government to provide an additional 100 acre. We are all set to deposit the money for taking over 500 acre land in the days to come. Land bank for setting up industries is our basic idea and besides Bodhjangnagar we have decided to take additional 60 acre land at Dukli ( existing 30 acres land is there) and land all along the NH – 44 will also be taken . For developing Dukli industrial estate we will pump in Rs 25 crores in the days to come, he said.
