The general manager of BSNL, Tripura Mr Debkumar Chakrabarti has highlighted the various steps that will be taken in the coming days for improvement of available services. Speaking with TRIPURATODAY.com he mentioned that at present there are over 2.5 BSNL mobile ( post paid and pre paid ) mobile subscribers in the state. Besides, there are over 80,000 land line subscribers with another 6,500 having broadband internet connections. In order to cope with this high number of mobile subscribers BSNL has decided to double the number of towers.” At present we have 196 towers operational in the state and soon we will have an additional 112 towers operational” , he mentioned. The issue of increasing the point of connectivity to end the woes of the subscribers of private operators will also be looked into so that subscribers can enter the BSNL network from other networks easily, he further stated.
Besides, the Main Switch Centre in the state capital was also catering to the needs of all local calls with the MSC in Shillong also remaining operational all along. He also had good news for the internet subscribers too and declared that soon broadband connectivity based on the latest Wimax and WLL extended Voice Data systems will be made operational in the state. This system will also spread e – governance at the grass root level as the Community Information kiosks in the villages will become operational from April based on this system. It may be mentioned here that even though BSNL has taken a beating in other circles in the hands of the private operators in Tripura it remains a clear number one. Hence there are high expectations and Mr Chakrabarti is toiling hard with his dedicated team to maintain the highest standards and catering to almost 3. 5 lakh subscribers in every nook and corner of the state. As General Manager he is responsible for the operation, maintenance and development activities of BSNL in the entire state.
