Tripura will rise in the industrial map of the country and 2010 will be the year of Tripura Udoy. With investments to the tune of 600 crores set to pour in the state is all set to make it big. Speaking with TRIPURATODAY.com Director of Industries V G Jenner highlighted the various aspects that will make Tripura into an industrial hub. The biggest expected investment is to be made by the Mudra group that is expected to set up a methanol plant in the state The total investment is expected to be to the tune of Rs 250 crores, Mr Jenner claimed. On the other hand Dharampal Satyapal group will set up its second rubber thread manufacturing unit close to the existing plant at Bodhjangnagar with an expected investment of over Rs 100 crores.
But why will Tripura Udoy happen in 2010 itself. This is so because in January itself the Rubber park and Food park at Bodhjangnagar will be ready, according to Mr Jenner . And the state government has sought Rs 24 crores from the central government for setting up a bamboo park in the same spot. There is no dearth of land in Bodhjangnagar with 532 acre already available. And for prospective investors there is available power, gas and incentives on offer both from the central and the state government. With the central government incentive scheme set to be discontinued for Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand the units that had shifted to these states are expected to make a beeline to Tripura once again. In terms of investment from outside the country, Mr Jenner stated that one NRI wants to set up a tyre factory in the rubber park while Pran group of Bangladesh also wants to set up a pineapple juice extraction plant.
And the state will be helped immensely by the business summits that will be organized by IL&FS in Guwahati, Siliguri, Mumbai and Cochin in the days to come. And to top it all will be the North East Business Summit that will be organized at Kolkata on Januray 8th & 9th jointly by Ministry of DONER &ICC.
