Road mishaps kill two, miscreants attack police

Agartala, Oct 15: Road mishaps killed two people in two separate incidents in state. Day before yesterday, a garlic-loaded Mahendra Jeep bearing No.TR-01-E-1671 proceeding towards Sonamura from Dhanpur side met with an accident near Sanghati Bridge at Sonamura over
Gomati River. Four labourers namely Iman Hossain (22) of Sonapur, Jashim Uddin (19) of Sobhapur, Tapan Paul (20) of Magger Para, Amir Amzed (13)  of Balerdepa all under Sonamura PS received grievous injuries on their persons. They were shifted to Sonamura Rural Hospital.
On way injured Iman Hossain succumbed to his injuries.
Injured Jashim Uddin and Tapan Paul were subsequently referred to Melaghar Sub-Division Hospital and injured Amir Amzed was referred to G.B. Hospital. O.C Sonamura PS registered a case. When Police arrived at Place of occurrence 14/15 miscreants attacked Police. Due to
assault by the miscreants 3 Police personnel received injuries. A separate case has been registered on this. Police seized the offending vehicle. PM examination over the dead body of deceased Iman Hossain was done. Investigation of both the cases is in progress. In
another accident, a Guwahati bound truck No-AS-25/C-7424 met with an accident at Kalabagan on NH-44. Driver of the said vehicle namely Ramen Das(25) alias Laden of Durgapur under Kalyanpur police station received grievous injuries and he was shifted to Jirania Rural Hospital and subsequently referred to G.B. Hospital. On he same evening he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. It is alleged that accident occurred due to rash and negligent driving of the driver. O.C Jirania PS registered a case and seized the offending vehicle. Post Mortem examination was done.
 


Assam Rifles cycle expedition ends

Agartala, Oct 13: For the first time in state, a 10-day joint cycle expedition organized under the aegis of 21 Sector Assam Rifles and 182 Military Hospital. The expedition came to an end at Assam Rifles ground here on October 13. Brigadier S B Asthana, SM, Commander 21 Sector Assam Rifles flagged off the expedition on October 3 last. In the concluding ceremony, Mr. Asthana said that the expedition was a true reflection of the spirit of the Armed forces where in the team not only spread the message of peace and harmony and awareness about
socially relevant themes but also helped the weaker sections of the society by rendering free medical aid in many interior areas of the state. He also praised the determination and resolve displayed by the team to go ahead with the expedition even when the capital city experienced a series of bomb blasts. The team during their 200 km long journey conducted seven medical camps and health lectures at Gabardi, Kokraban, Killa, Jampuijala and Champaknagar.
The team also provided free medical assistance to more than 1000 villagers during medical camps. Awareness on malaria, AIDS, hygiene and sanitation were also imparted to school children and the locals. Col Pilkhwal, CO 182 Military Hospital, Major I P Singh, Military Hospital while speaking to Tripura Times informed that such initiative would be continued in the coming days also. About 27 jawans of Assam Rifles and military hospital including one dental specialist
took part in the expedition.




Sourabee steps in Indian Idol

Agartala, Oct. 15: Ms. Sourobhee Debbarma, daughter of Mr. Sunil Debbarma and Ms. Arundhati Debbarma of Krishna Nagar, Nutan Pally, Agartala, got selected in The Indian Idol series-4 audition held at land lake Country Club, Cona Express, Howrah, West Bengal. Thereafter she has been called for Theatre Round held at NCPA Hall Nariman Point, Mumbai and reached amongst
the Top 30 competitors. She has cleared even the Theater Round and has now been amongst the 28 contenders for the hugely popular Indian Idol, Bharat Ki Shaan. She is all set to perform at the stage of Indian Idol. Her father said “Sourabee is well known as a singer and choreographer in the state and about 30-40 Kokborok music-video albums and several songs
for Kokborok films go to her credit. She choreographs as well as sings and acts in all her video albums. She  has completed her BBA from CSIT (College of Commerce, Science and Information Technology at Chinchwad) under Pune University. She was a student of ST. Paul’s School till her matriculation and obtained her higher secondary from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. Singing, dancing and acting are her favourite hobbies. Her dream is to become a playback singer of Bollywood”.
