Advancing a tough challenge to the incumbent Left party in Tripura, all six Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLAs are set to switch over to the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday making the latter principal opposition in the state. And battlelines seems to have been drawn with the BJP aim of giving an one to one fight to CPI(M) materializing. It was a hug that many , especially those in Melarmath did not expect to happen. But when Biplab Deb hugged Sudip Barman and fellow legislators who joined BJP in the makeshift dais in front of Rabindra bhavan one thing became amply clear.

Sudip had accepted the leadership of Biplab Deb and they jointly will take on CPI(M) in the days to come. Sunu Dutta and Ratan Chakraborty stayed away but Subal Bhowmik was present in the dais to welcome Sudip and old friend Ashish Saha. In the evening Sudip followers were back in full force in the old TMC bhavan in Jackson gate wondering what their role will be in the days to come. But Sunil Deodhar made it clear that BJP will have equal opportunities for one and all , old and new.

Speaking at the rally Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan said CPI(M) free Tripura is now demand of the people of the state. Hinting of things to come he said the state needs a government of younger generation that will develop the state by using the immense resources at hand. And the icing in the cake for the state BJP was the presence of Himanta Biswa Sharma who through his sacthing attack on Manik Sarkar made it clear that after Assam, Arunachal and Manipur it is Tripura that is his next target.
