Putting more impetus to the state's health sector, the Tripura government is now working to get another major section of poor in the state brought under the coverage of Ayushman Bharat Scheme. "Government's focus is to establish the poor and not the APL category people of this state. We have kept all services completely free for AAY beneficiaries. Priority Group families will henceforth enjoy 35 per cent reduced tariffs across different segments. We have increased healthcare tariffs from APL beneficiaries. Why should APL people not pay? They can afford to pay. Our government will work for the poor only”, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said today.

Five days after the state Health and Family Welfare Department issued a notification revising public healthcare tariff rates, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb Wednesday clarified that his government is yet to finally implement revised rates and said the previous notification was only an ‘in-principle notification’, which had some errors. "As the Prime Minister is intended to floor fund on this, the Tripura government is working to get more poor under the coverage of Ayushman Bharat scheme," adding to this the CM said unless government puts restrictions on other health services, the poorer section will not register themselves under this scheme to avail the free service in health sector."

Meantime, the Chief Minister today trained guns at erstwhile Left Front government and said massive corruptions were held during their regime. He said, "Major section of poor in Tripura were excluded and deprived from the benefits under Antodaya Annapurna Yojana. government shall launch a new scheme for the 84000 families who were excluded from  getting 3 lakhs 57 thousand card under Ayushman Card. He said those poor families were deprived under the Left regime."
