63 crore spent for fake ration cards under Left era’: CM Biplab Deb

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today took on the previous Left front government and asked the former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar of Left front government in the state to clarify the 63000 fake ration cards outbreaks which made a loss of Rs. 63 crore for the state of Tripura.

“The state has faced a hefty loss of Rs. 63 crore under the Left rule as the previous government have instigated fake ration cards to facilitate the party workers and not common and poor people of this state,” said Mr. Deb today.The Chief Minister was addressing inauguration programme of sugar distribution through Public Distribution System (PDS) to every ration card holders.

“The Tripura government has introduced Sugar to be dispatched from now through PDS system to the genuine ration card holders. Of this Rs. 63 Crore which is now brought back after identification of fake ration card holders, the Tripura government shall spend Rs. 17 crore for dispatching sugar annually

And another amount is spend for dispatching Masoor Daal,” adding to this the Chief Minister said, “This Rs. 63 crore which was misappropriated for the fake ration card holders under Left era shall be used by this corruption-free government for the sake of genuine people of this state.”

He said, “The Tripura government is also planning to introduce Mustard Oil to be dispatched through PDS. And this can be done spending amount from misappropriated Rs. 63 crore.” “One has to run corruption-free government and develop state by implementing the central welfare schemes,” adding Mr. Deb said, “Under the Left era, very less section of poor and common masses of this state were deprived as the central welfare schemes of PM Modi were not implemented for them.” The Tripura however, has started dispatching sugar at the cost of Rs. 23 per Kg through PDS system. The state government has also chalked out plans for distributing Soyabean and Mustard Oil through PDS in a phased manner.
