Police apprehended nine cattle smugglers with cattle along Assam-Bangladesh border

Police has apprehended nine cattle smugglers and seized nine numbers of cattle in Assam’s South Salmara Mankachar district along Indo-Bangladesh border on Tuesday night, officials said on Wednesday. Police had apprehended them, while they were trying to smuggle the seized cattle to Bangladesh. Acting on a tip-off, the South Salmara Mankachar district police had launched two different operations along Indo-Bangladesh border and apprehended nine cattle smugglers.

The security personnel had apprehended six from Mankachar area and three from Kokradanga-Sishumara area. Security personnel had seized nine numbers of cattle and iron cutters, which was used to cut the border fencing in possession from them.The apprehended cattle smugglers were identified as Akhirul Islam, Shahidur Islam, Abdul Azad, Chand Miya, Hafez Uddin, Mizanur Rahman, Akidul Mandal, Hasem Ali and Nur Alam.

“South Salmara Mankachar district police has apprehended nine cattle smugglers and six of them apprehended by Mankachar police team and three by Kharubandha police team. We have recovered iron cutters from the possession of the cattle smugglers. Total nine numbers of cattle have been seized,” a police officer said.Recently, the BSF troops had apprehended six cattle smugglers along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
